October Update!
over 3 years ago – Thu, Oct 01, 2020 at 05:07:32 PM

Hi, Backers!

Wow, where did the summer go? I mean, other than into the maw of the pandemic? My apologies for letting so long lapse between updates. However, we haven't been idle, and I have loads of news for you.

I just sent out the DriveThruRPG emails for Shotguns & Sorcery: The Player's Guide. I've also submitted the print files to them so that those who want a cheap entry into the game can have it too. You should get an email from them about your file today, so look for that in your inbox.

The Player's Guide

Work on other fronts is progressing well. Monsters & Mean Streets is getting close. I have a preliminary layout complete, and Marty's given me his comments on it, so I should have the interior completed shortly. I'm waiting on a final cover from Jeremy, which I should have soon. Then it's off to Monte Cook Games for approvals and from there to you.

A sample of one of the new creatures in Monsters & Mean Streets.

With that done, I can put the finishing touches on the monster and adversary decks. I'd been waiting to have page numbers for quick and easy reference. We'll deliver these as a print-and-play PDF, but we'll also have it on DriveThruCards as a printed deck you can order too.

A sample of one of the cards.

On top of that, Marty has completed the Pathfinder conversion text. I hired the amazing Owen K. C. Stephens to edit it for us and make sure it works perfectly with Pathfinder 1E rules.

Marty also turned over the rest of the text for the 32-page adventure, Dead Times in Dragon City. We're going to need some more artwork for it to make it shine, but we'll get it into editing and layout while we're waiting on that.

I recently added a Shotguns & Sorcery resource page to my website at https://www.forbeck.com/shotguns-n-sorcery. There's not a ton of stuff up there yet other than information you likely already know, but I did post a PDF of the character sheet for you to download and print out.

The comic is also still in the works. The inked artwork for the interior is done, and it looks great. We still need colors, letters, and a cover, but the folks at Outland are on the job.

Inks for page 1 of the comic.

With luck we'll have more of this stuff out to you soon. Thanks again for all your patience and support. I hope you're all weathering the pandemic well and had a wonderful summer despite it.

The S&S RPG Is on Sale
almost 4 years ago – Fri, Jul 03, 2020 at 12:19:30 AM

This may not be all that exciting for you wonderful backers who already have your copies of the RPG, but I wanted you to know that I just put it up for sale to the public. You can read the details on my blog, but the short version is I'm selling the leftover books from the Kickstarter-funded print run on eBay, and I'm selling PDFs and print-on-demand books through DriveThruRPG

So, if you want an extra copy of the game for your players, now's your chance. Either way, if you could tell your fellow gamers that the time is here for them to join in on all the fun, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Meanwhile, work progresses on the rest of the line. Marty just finished the first draft of the Pathfinder conversion. I'm putting the final touches on Monsters & Mean Streets, and the rest of the products are lining up behind them. That includes the comic, which has something like 20 of the 22 pages penciled and looking fantastic. Check out a preview of one of the pages below.

I had hoped to be farther along with everything by now, but the pandemic threw a bit of a wrench into my plans. It turns out that having all five of my now-adult kids at home full-time as four of them (the quadruplets who just turned 18) prepare to leave for college in the fall sucks up a lot of time. I appreciate your continued patience!

Thanks once again for all your support. I hope you're all having a wonderful, safe, and healthy summer!

May Update
almost 4 years ago – Fri, May 22, 2020 at 10:54:38 PM

Hi, Kickstarter Backers!

Monte Cook Games came through with the approval for the Full Moon Enterprises version of the RPG, and I just sent copies off to everyone on the list via DriveThruRPG.com. If that doesn't work for you for some reason, please shoot me an email at [email protected] to let me know, and I'll do my best to get you set up.

This new version is substantially similar to the original version. I cleaned up a few typos here and there and added an index in the back of the book, but otherwise, it's much the same. I submitted the files for a print-on-demand version, but POD is taking a bit longer than usual to set up these days, so it may be several weeks before that version is open for public orders.

With that ready, I should be able to have the Player's Guide completed soon. I just need to edit the Table of Contents and Index to reflect the shorter book's content and modify a few other things. The cover should look something like this:

Meanwhile, my son Marty is hard at work on the Pathfinder conversion. Once he's done with that, he's going to work on expanding the adventure to its full length.

I'm currently editing Monsters & Mean Streets, the monster folio. We have all the artwork in (I think), and it's close to done.

Work on the comic is coming along. We have pencils in for about half the book, and they look amazing.

The cards still need page numbers from Monsters & Mean Streets. Once that's done, the cards should follow soon after.

Whew! I think that's it!

I hope you enjoy the game and are keeping healthy and happy!

Take care,

Matt Forbeck

Signature Plate!

Hello folks!

It took a bit longer than we hoped but as of yesterday, the signature plates are officially in the mail.

Coming to your mailbox soon:

April Update
about 4 years ago – Mon, Apr 20, 2020 at 06:55:29 PM

Hi, Folks! It's been a while since the last update, so I thought I'd check in with you. It's been a wild few weeks dealing with the impact of COVID-19, and that's thrown a wee bit of a wrench in the time I had for this. However, we are still making progress.

I'm told that all hard copies of the RPG should be in backers' hands. If you haven't gotten yours yet, please let the folks at Outland know. You can copy me on that if you like. I'm at [email protected]

I'm putting the finishing touches on the new version of the PDF for the game, and I'm waiting on approvals from Monte Cook Games for the minor changes I made. I have a new agreement with them signed, so the Cypher System version of the game is going to be going forward, as expected. They're on vacation until the end of the month, but once they're back, we'll get the PDF and the POD versions released for the public.

I plan to send all eligible backers copies of the new PDF through DriveThruRPG. That way, they'll be linked to your account, and you won't have to worry about expiring Dropbox links or the like.

Once that's all ready, we should have the Player's Guide good to go soon after.

Progress on the other fronts has stalled a bit. Once my son Marty graduates in May, he'll be able to wrap up the Pathfinder conversion and expand the adventure, which apparently is running shorter than was originally promised.

Work on the comic is steaming ahead. The script has been ready for a while, and the page breakdowns are now complete. The pencils for the first few pages are in, and they look fantastic.

The cards are nearly ready, but they need page numbers from the Monster Folio, so I'm going to get the layout for that wrapped up next.

Anyhow, I hope you're all doing well, keeping hunkered down, and staying safe and healthy. If you're playing the game, be sure to let me know, either here or on Twitter or Facebook. I'd love to hear how it goes!
