The Encounter Cards Are on Sale!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Dec 09, 2020 at 04:50:43 AM

Today the proof copy of the Shotguns & Sorcery: Encounter Cards showed up on my doorstep. They look pretty great, so I flipped the switch on DriveThruRPG and put them on sale for $4.95 for the PDF and $11.95 for the print-on-demand edition.

The tuck box.

The print-on-demand tuck box is a little odd in that it's glueless and made of a single piece of card that folds over onto itself, but it looks sharp and seems pretty sturdy. The cards came out looking fantastic, far better than I could produce on my ink-jet printer at home.

A few samples of the cards.

If you're interested in the printed cards, you can pick up a deck via DriveThruRPG

Meanwhile, I have the text in hand for both the adventure and the Pathfinder conversion. I just need to get these into layout, which is no small task, but it means we're getting closer.

If you know someone who would like a copy of the core rules, they can pick that up on DriveThruRPG as well

On top of that, I have fewer than 90 copies of the first printing of the core rules stacked up in a closet here in my house. Those are available on eBay for $60 each, and they also come with a free copy of the PDF. I'd be happy to autograph any of those books as I ship them out.

In any case, I hope you're all keeping healthy and happy, and if I don't post here before the end of the year, I hope you all have wonderful holidays too!

The Encounter Cards Are Here!
over 3 years ago – Sat, Nov 28, 2020 at 04:55:31 PM

Hi, Backers!

As I mentioned earlier this week, I submitted the Encounter Cards to Monte Cook Games a while back and was waiting to here from them. They approved the cards this week, and we are all set to go. I just sent out PDFs of the Print-and-Play version to everyone via DriveThruRPG.com, and they should arrive in your inboxes soon.

Like I mentioned the last time around, I bumped this up from 40 cards to a full 54-card deck. You can print them out now, of course, or you can wait to get your hands on a print-on-demand deck in a month or so. I already ordered a proof of them from DriveThru, and if they look good, I'll approve them for sale as soon as I have the chance to check them out. They'll come with a snazzy tuck box that'll look something like this:

Anyhow, I hope all you in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving. As part of their Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale, DriveThruRPG discounted a bunch of my books. That includes some of my novels, some Brave New World RPG stuff, and even Shotguns & Sorcery: The Omnibus and Shotguns & Sorcery: The Roleplaying Game. Go ahead and check them out, and please spread the word to your friends and fellow gamers.

As always, thanks for your support!

The Player's Guide Is on Sale!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 24, 2020 at 01:13:00 AM

Hi, Backers!

Shotguns & Sorcery: The Player's Guide just went on sale on DriveThruRPG. For this debut week, I've reduced the price from $9.95 to only $1

You already have a copy of your own, of course, but if you could spread the news to your fellow gamers, I'd appreciate it. Or if you want to give extra copies to your players, this would be the perfect time to do it.

The book is also now available for print-on-demand. You can get a black-and-white softcover version for only $9.95 or a full-color version for $19.95. Both of those come bundled with the PDF included for free.

In other news, I submitted the card decks to Monte Cook Games a couple weeks ago, and I hope to get approval on them soon. As you might recall, the original stretch goals called for two print-and-play decks of 20 cards each. Once I started putting everything together, though, I realized that it made more sense to put those into a single deck of 40 cards. And since I was already there, I decided to add another 14 cards to make it a full 54-card deck.

The first 20 of those cards feature a solid assortment of random creatures for encounters. The second 20 show brand-new NPCs created for the deck. The last 14 display major characters from the stories, like Max, Belle, Kai, and so on. If you buy them on DriveThruCards once they're ready, you can even get them delivered in a custom tuck box for easy storage.

Here's a sample of one of those new NPCs:

Once I get approvals on these, I'll get them bundled up as a print-and-play PDF and off to you straight away.

The color art for the comic is complete. We still need letters and a cover.

Owen is working on the Pathfinder conversion.

Marty has completed the text for the adventure, and it's going into layout. We still need some maps and a few more bits of art for it, but it's coming along well.

After that, there's the Art of Shotguns & Sorcery book to complete, and I believe we'll be done. It's been a long road, but the end is in sight. Thanks you to all for your kindness and patience.

Along that note, I'd like to wish a happy early Thanksgiving to all the US backers out there. I hope you (and everyone else!) are all staying healthy and safe.

Monsters & Mean Streets Is on Its Way!
over 3 years ago – Thu, Oct 29, 2020 at 12:57:32 AM

Hi, Backers!

Monte Cook Games approved Monsters & Mean Streets, and it's already on its way to you. Look for an email from DriveThruRPG.com with a personal download link for you. These expire in about a month, so don't let them sit around too long if you can help it. (If you do, just contact me, and I'll set you up with a new one though.)

That's my son Marty's first published book, and I think he did a hell of a job with it. I hope you all enjoy it.

With that locked, I'm going to finish up the card decks. I'm waiting on revisions of a couple pieces of art, but we should be good to go soon.

Then I'll dive into editing the adventure, Dead Times in Dragon City, which Marty has finished writing.

Owen KC Stephens is still working on polishing Marty's work on the Pathfinder conversion guide. An ice storm hit his area in Oklahoma, though, cutting off his power, so I expect a bit of delay there.

The comic is still coming along, and we're starting to get some colored pages in. Here's a preliminary of page 2.

Just needs letters, and it'll look like a real book!

Whew. It seems like a lot still, but we're getting there. Thanks again for your patience.

Anyhow, I hope you're having a wonderful fall. If you're in the US, don't forget to vote!

The Player's Guide Is on Its Way

Hi, Backers!

Monte Cook Games approved The Player's Guide fast, and it's already on its way to you. Look for an email from DriveThruRPG.com with a download link in your email.

Meanwhile, I am wrapping up editing on Monsters & Mean Streets and have the cover in hand, which you can see a mockup of below. I'll be sending that out for approvals soon, and with luck I'll have it in your hands shortly after that.

With that book done, I can get the card decks finished soon too. I'm hunting down a few pieces of art that needed some changes, but those are 90% there.

The comic is also coming together. In fact, here are the inks to a splash page from early in the tale.

Thanks again for your patience. Hope you're all keeping healthy and safe!
